Robert C. James, CCM, CCE, CHE – Vice President

Bob has spent a lifetime dedicated to the Club industry and the betterment of club management professionals. Throughout his 40 year career in the private club industry, he has served at four Platinum Clubs of America of which three also held Distinguished Clubs of the World certifications.

His career began as Clubhouse Manager at The Philadelphia Country Club in 1973. In 1976, he was named the Manager at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn. He then moved to Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, N.Y. as General Manager from 1981-1991 before ultimately joining Westchester Country Club where he served as Executive Director through 2017.

Bob became a member of the Club Manager’s Association of America (CMAA) in 1975 and has served as a volunteer leader for a number of organizations. He is the Immediate Past President of the CMAA’s Board of Directors and a Founding Director of the Metropolitan Club Foundation. Bob has served as Director for both the CMAA and New York State Club Association for extensive periods. He has also served as both Director and Chairman for the National Club Foundation and served as a Council Member for the MGA’s Presidents Council since 1990.

Bob graduated from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University and received his MBA from Pace University. He continues to be both a student and leader of the industry who demonstrates passion, commitment, and dedication to his profession; he is an adjunct professor at Cornell and a featured speaker and panelist for numerous conferences. In 2017, Bob received the Metropolitan Golf Association’s Distinguished Service Award making him the first-ever club management leader to receive this award.

Leveraging his extensive experience and analytic expertise, Bob will lead and provide support on the Firm’s complete range of consulting and search activities.
