The Aquidneck Club | Portsmouth, Rhode Island
Membership Director

About the Club

The Aquidneck Club located on the Narragansett Bay in Portsmouth, Rhode Island is a private sporting estate committed to the art of living well. Formerly the Carnegie Abbey Club, Peter de Savary opened it in 2000 on 300-plus acres leased from the Benedictine monks who operate Portsmouth Abbey School. In January of 2019, a group of former Carnegie Abbey members purchased the location to create a new world-class member-owned club.

The Club’s 225 members enjoy an array of recreational endeavors including a waterfront Scottish links-style golf course designed by Donald Steel, a 19-stall equestrian center with both a heated indoor and outdoor riding rings, walking and riding trails, tennis center, outdoor pool, sport fishing, a recently-upgraded 41-slip marina, and New England inspired lodging accommodations. The dining program is crafted around classic New England “comfort” with an emphasis on fresh local seafood. The dining lounges and sweeping verandas take full advantage of the views of the golf course and the Narragansett Bay backdrop. Organized activities and programs are offered for youth and adults.

The new ownership group has committed nearly $6 million of which approximately $2.5 million has already been designated to make upgrades to the clubhouse and golf course over the next two years.

The Club is open seven days a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Operating hours vary during the off-season and shoulder seasons. The golf course is open daily from April to October.
