About the Club
Founded in 1989, Atlantic Golf Club is located on the eastern end of Long Island in Bridgehampton, New York in the exclusive Hamptons community. Developer Lowell Schulman constructed the Club on a 205-acre potato farm and obtained the services of Rees Jones to design and build the course. The Rees Jones designed course opened in 1992 to both local and national rave reviews, winning Golf Digest’s award for the “Best New Private Course” and quickly cementing itself as a Hamptons classic. The New England-style clubhouse offers members a full bar, restaurant, and pro shop.

Atlantic Golf Club has demonstrated a commitment to excellence that extends to every facet of the operation from the course to the membership and staff, many of whom have been with the club since its inception. The Club embodies traditional values, a select but diverse membership, founded for the enjoyment of a superb golfing experience in a magnificent setting.

Atlantic Golf Club was chosen to host the 1995 Met Open as its first local major championship. It was the first chapter in what is destined to be a long and distinguished history linking Atlantic with the best in championship golf. The Club has hosted several local and national championships and is the home course of the Hamptons Invitational Celebrity Pro-Am (“The Gust”). The Metropolitan Golf Writers Association named Atlantic Golf Club “Club of the Year” in 2010.

The Club is open from the end of April to the end of October. The golf course is available to members year-round. Clubhouse is open for breakfast and lunch Wednesday to Monday in season.

About the Position
The General Manager/COO is responsible for managing all operations of Atlantic Golf Club consistent with the direction and policies established by the Board of Governors as well as by the By-laws and Rules and Regulations of the Club. This includes working in conjunction with the Controller in the preparation and final draft of the annual operating and capital budgets, which will be subject to approval of the Finance Committee and Board, and management and control of operations to attain desired results.

With the Board of Directors and the Committees focused on policy and programming, the General Manager/COO will report to and advise, along with the President, offering industry perspective and professional expertise. The General Manager/COO owns all management accountability, with the Board and Committees interfacing with management through the General Manager/COO. The General Manager/COO will monitor the quality of the Club’s staff, products, and services to ensure maximum member and guest satisfaction and will ensure an atmosphere of hospitality, friendliness, and goodwill.

About the Ideal Candidate
The next General Manager/COO will have a career track record managing highly regarded private golf clubs and possess strong overall financial acumen with strengths in budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, and reporting. He/she will have strong knowledge of and passion for food, wine, and service with a successful track record in shaping excellent dining offerings. The ideal candidate will also have a record of success in the selection, development, training, and motivation of an accomplished, service-oriented staff in a high-end, member-focused environment as well as experience in implementing a comprehensive HR system.

The ideal candidate will have a professional career “track record” of achievement and relative employment stability with experience in overseeing the maintenance and care of a renowned facility. It is imperative that he/she is an excellent leader, delegator and motivator with enthusiasm and the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization. He/she will have a strong set of professional credentials in broad hospitality areas and a sharp eye for detail in overall management of the operation, especially in managing the member experience.
