Coral Creek Club | Placida, Florida
Golf Course Superintendent

About the Club

Coral Creek Club is located in Placida, Florida at the entrance of Gasparilla Island between the Gulf of Mexico and Gasparilla Sound.  Gasparilla Island is home to Boca Grande, known internationally as the tarpon capital of the world. Coral Creek Club was first organized as a private Club in 2000. Following 2003, Coral Creek Club was purchased by a private ownership group. The current ownership purchased the Club in 2006 and has retained possession though present day.

The Club facilities are comprised of a complex including the 17,000 square foot Clubhouse built in 2007, housing administrative offices, Men’s and Ladies Locker Rooms, two bars, two dining rooms, an expansive back patio and event lawn. The Golf House is the original clubhouse, a 3,000 square foot structure adjacent to the practice facilities and golf course. The golf course maintenance complex is separate from the Clubhouse and Golf Shop.

Tom Fazio laid out the 18 hole course at Coral Creek Club. Coral Creek Club’s golf course is known as one of the best in Florida and has enjoyed a ranking within Golf Digest’s Top 30 Golf Courses in Florida. Bordered by picturesque Coral Creek, a salt-water estuary flowing to the Gulf of Mexico and a 6,000-acre nature preserve, the 211-acre golf course rolls gently through southern pines, oaks and palms around deep blue lakes and picturesque, high flashing bunkers that guard the greens. The course offers water views over the mangroves on several golf holes, views that make the golf experience at Coral Creek unique among the best golf courses in Florida.

Water for the course is partially supplied through recycled water. The 211-acre property (160 acres maintained) is hidden from surrounding communities through ample forestation and plantings yet the interior views across the course and through the approach to the Clubhouse proper are spectacular. Other golf amenities include a dual sided, full-service driving range (teaching tees at the rear end), a short game area and putting green proximate to the Golf House.  Ten home sites occupy the periphery of the 18th hole with only four homes on the property.

In April of 2020, Tom Fazio will execute a $2.5 million renovation of his original design to be completed in summer and reopening in the fall of 2020. Resurfacing the greens, tees and fairways and renovation of the bunkers to capillary concrete are priorities in the project.

Coral Creek Club is owned privately and is overseen by ELV Associates, Inc. The Club operates under the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer Concept.

The Club is open seven days per week in season; aspects of the facilities are closed on Mondays.
