About the Club

Crestmont Country Club was founded in 1954 and is located on 264 acres in West Orange, New Jersey, approximately a half hour’s drive from mid-town Manhattan.  The Club is a member- owned, family-oriented full-service country club.  Club amenities include a 57,000 square foot main clubhouse with multiple dining and banquet facilities, an excellent Donald Ross championship golf course with comprehensive golf practice facilities, a 1,650 square foot Fitness Center, a beautiful Olympic size swimming pool with adjacent clubhouse, four Har Tru tennis courts with a bubble for indoor play, and one hard surface tennis court.  Youth activities are offered in golf, tennis and swimming. In addition, lessons and clinics are available for both adults and children in golf and tennis. Currently, the Club has 289 members with 202 being full-privileged.

The dynamic and challenging par 72 championship golf course measures 6,886 yards and hosts approximately 17,000 rounds annually.  The course underwent a multi-year, multi-million dollar “restoration” project to return it to Donald Ross’s original design.  Upon completion, the Club served as a qualifying venue for the 2008 United States Senior Open.

The Club recently completed a $14,750,000 major renovation in September 2019 that included enhancements to Clubhouse, pool and surrounding area.

The Club is open March through December and operational six days a week.  From April to October, dinner is available Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.  Lunch is available Tuesday through Sunday in the Mixed Grill.  The Patio maintains a seasonal schedule. The golf course is open year-round, weather permitting.

About the Position

The Membership Director serves as the key Ambassador with a full understanding and commitment to the Club’s history, culture, customs and standards of quality. An exciting, high profile position, the Membership Director is responsible for building effective relationships with the members, prospects, guests, staff, and within the community.

Critical deliverables for this position are member recruitment, retention and member relations.  The Membership Director is responsible for supporting and working with the Membership Committee to identify membership prospects and convert member referrals into new members. He/she represents Crestmont in the marketplace to increase awareness of the Club and to independently identify and qualify prospective candidates for the Membership Committee and Board to consider for membership.

The Membership Director provides facility tours, entertains prospects, hosts awareness events for potential members, and manages the new member enrollment and onboarding process. He/she must plan his/her work schedule to be visible and accessible to members and their guests and participate in select community activities to represent and promote the Club.

Compensation:  The Club will offer a base salary plus a commission plan, along with standard benefits.

About the Ideal Candidate

This is a new position for the Club and requires an outgoing and highly personable sales professional with excellent communication skills – both written and oral – and a natural ability to network and engage with the membership, community and staff of Crestmont Country Club. Enthusiastic self-starters who are performance oriented with a track record of achieving budgeted results with specific goals are highly desired. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a member-owned private club environment while demonstrating an entrepreneurial approach to sales and experience and success in membership recruitment and acquisition.

Candidates should have a college degree or equivalent education and experience and a minimum of five years of experience in outside sales and marketing (preferably in the northeast), in the hospitality, private club and/or golf industries. Appreciation and understanding of the game of Golf is preferred.

Candidates must be willing and able to work a varied schedule that may include early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
