About the Club
Established in 1971, the Country Club of Missouri is an innovative member-owned club dedicated to the social and athletic lifestyles of its members by providing warm hospitality, exceptional service, and premier facilities.

The Club’s traditions surround family and community. The Club offers many amenities centered around a 6,493-yard par 72 challenging and scenic golf course. Designed by Marvin Ferguson and nestled in southwest Columbia, the traditional course offers a ‘player-friendly layout as each hole presents many opportunities for a ‘risk vs. reward’ strategy. This layout consists of zoysia fairways, and bluegrass rough and bent grass greens that have subtle breaks, providing a challenge for all skill levels. In addition to the golf course, there is a practice facility including a practice range, a short game area, and a putting green.

Beyond golf, the Club prides itself on world-class amenities including tennis courts, pickleball courts, a swimming pool, an event center, a fitness facility, and an active social calendar. In addition, the Club is proud to offer several youth programs including junior golf, a Gators swim team, and a tennis program that is led by Elite level USPTA certified professionals as well as pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the country. Throughout the two dining venues, the Country Club of Missouri provides its members with a culinary experience centered around incredible food and excellent service.

Home to the University of Missouri, Columbia, was ranked #2 Best Places to Live in the US by Money Magazine and is a small city with a population of 122,659 but with the vibrant feel of a big city. It is a close 125 miles to both Kansas City to the West, and St. Louis to the east. Many young professionals live in Columbia and the public schools are highly rated. It is a fantastic place to raise a family and has gained national acclaim.

Gross revenues exceed $5.4 million with annual dues at approximately $2.1 million and Food and Beverage accounting for $1.6 million. There are 137 staff members at the height of the season and a total of 693 memberships. The Club is overseen by a 10-member Board of Directors. The Club is currently undergoing a renovation in the range of $6M.

About the Position
The General Manager will be responsible for managing all operations of the Country Club of Missouri consistent with the direction and policies established by the Club’s Board of Directors. This includes working in conjunction with the Controller and staff in the preparation and final draft of the annual operating and capital budgets, which will be subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.

With the Club focused on policy and programming, the General Manager will report to and advise the board on all operating matters, offering industry perspective, concise professional expertise, and vision for the Club. The General Manager owns all management accountability.

Compensation:  The Club will offer a competitive compensation plan for the next General Manager.

About the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible club/hospitality management positions leading up to an Assistant or General Manager position at a similar culture organization. He/she will have a professional career “track record” of achievement and relative employment stability with strong financial management, organizational and administrative skills.

The next General Manager must have excellent people skills and a high “emotional IQ,” proven leadership qualities, as well as an understanding and appreciation of golf, tennis, aquatic, and fitness operations. He/she should have the ability to utilize member relationships to develop successful member activities as well as a sharp eye for detail with experience shaping excellent social, dining, and cross-departmental programs.

The ideal candidate will have an overriding sense of quality awareness and a record of success in the selection, development, training, and motivation of an accomplished, service-oriented staff.  It is vital that he/she have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a sense of urgency and skill, and a warm and outgoing personality.

A four-year college degree is highly desirable, preferably with a specialization in hospitality management.
