Denver Athletic Club | Denver, Colorado
General Manager / COO

About the Club

Founded in 1884, The DAC opened as a gymnasium “for purpose of encouraging all proper athletic sports and pastimes of any kind and nature whatsoever”. The Denver Athletic Club’s first home was located in a former church building at 18th and Curtis and it moved to its current facility at 1325 Glenarm Place in 1890 where it promptly hosted a Colorado University football game. In 1951 the Club was destroyed by a fire and was rebuilt with major additions added in racquet sports in the 1960’s (squash) and 1980’s (racquetball).  Through the years, The DAC has thrived by promoting athletics and social interaction from its downtown location. In 2009, The Denver Athletic Club celebrated its 125th anniversary and remains the preeminent downtown Club with 2,150 members.

Home to the late Hashim Khan, one of the most decorated squash professionals, the Club serves as one of the most prominent squash clubs in America.  Racquetball and handball are also well subscribed and DAC hosted the 2018 Open Doubles world championships.  DAC offers eight bowling lanes, notably the oldest bowling lanes west of the Mississippi river.  Designated as a Platinum Athletic Club, the DAC is enjoying a renaissance of the downtown area from its location next to Denver’s Convention Center.  The Club offers over 300 parking spots in its garage, full service year-round child care, casual dining in three venues and is a busy events venue with a ballroom hosting club and private social events up to 450, roof top deck offers seasonal special events seating in excess of 400.  DAC hosts a number of outside entities such as the Denver Petroleum Club and various vendors contributing to its mission. DAC recently completed a renovation of its 20,000 sq. ft. fitness center and its 1884 restaurant and casual dining facility.
