About the Club

Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club is a private club and resort community set on 4,000 acres along the Indian River in Vero Beach, Florida. In 1988, the founders developed Grand Harbor as a community that reflects the unique beauty and casual elegance of Vero Beach, while providing the ultimate country club lifestyle.

The Grand Harbor gated community is comprised of 1,400 lots of which 50% have been developed. Home values range from $250k condominiums to $4 million homes. There are 25 community associations within Grand Harbor that report into one central association. An estimated 30% of the Club’s membership lives in Vero Beach year-round. Homes on property are available for monthly, seasonal or annual lease; renters have access to the Club and all of its amenities through transfer of membership during the term of their rental by the property owner.

Club services and amenities include a 32,000 square foot Mediterranean Style Clubhouse, the Beach Club, two championship 18 hole golf courses designed by Pete Dye and Joe Lee, golf practice facilities, 10 Har Tru tennis courts, two stadium tennis courts, a club pool, three Bocce courts, a fitness center, fully stocked golf and tennis pro shops, three dining rooms, outdoor fire pits, patio and terrace dining, advanced learning classes and lectures, horseshoe courts, kayaking with river access, nature trail and butterfly garden, a children’s playground, and a robust calendar of athletic and social activities for members of all ages. The oceanfront Beach Club features a temperature controlled pool bordered by the pool deck and cabanas and two dining rooms for member dining and private events. Members also enjoy beach side service.

Grand Harbor is open year-round. Annual gross revenue is $10.8 million of which $2.1 million is derived from food and beverage. The Club staffs 150 employees at the height of the season and 80 employees year-round. The Club is currently conducting a strategic assessment of various capital improvement plans.

About the Position

The General Manager has full P&L responsibility and is responsible for managing all operations of Grand Harbor, reporting to the President /Executive Director. He/she works with President/Executive Director to shape and drive the strategic direction of the “Club Experience” and operations to ensure the highest standards of excellence for all programming, sports operations, special events, entertainment, and other services that drive member engagement and satisfaction. The General Manager will provide quality leadership and a positive image for the Club, its facilities and amenities to the membership, guests, staff and the community.

The General Manager will evaluate amenities and service levels to develop, instill, and nurture an excellent member experience with and through the management team and staff; ensure that the staff clearly understands these expectations, protocols, and standards to anticipate and deliver excellent and consistent service throughout the Club. The General Manager will lead the management team which includes the Director of Food & Beverage, Director of Golf, Executive Chef, Director of Events, Director of Membership, Director of Facilities, Director of Tennis. He/she is expected to instill and nurture a deeply committed service culture club-wide with and through ongoing training that is focused on member satisfaction, member recognition, anticipatory service, and understanding of member preferences.

The General Manager must exhibit the highest level of personal and professional conduct both within and outside of the Club and maintain the high profile yet understated nature of Grand Harbor with a presence, gravitas, and sense of sophistication necessary to serve the membership.

About the Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be an established General Manager with a track record of managing highly regarded private country clubs of similar scope and scale to Grand Harbor. A college graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or equivalent is required. Professional certifications (CHA, CCM, CCE) or similar professional development achievements are highly desired.

Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, strong food and beverage knowledge, operational, and financial skills. Success with membership development and experience with golf course and clubhouse renovations is highly desired.

This position requires a club leader with a mature, executive presence and be unpretentious with high personal, professional, and ethical standards and is comfortable engaging and conversing with the membership.
