About the Club
For more than 75 years, Madison Beach Club has been a cherished, private, member-owned coastal retreat offering recreation, relaxation, and community along the Connecticut shoreline. Located in the charming beach town of Madison, Connecticut, the Club sits along 4,300 feet of Long Island Sound shoreline, approximately 100 miles from New York City and 130 miles from Boston.

The Club features an 11,400 sq. ft. clubhouse with sweeping water views, 82 private beach lockers and bathhouses, and a vibrant waterfront culture built around sailing, beach activities, and family traditions. Members enjoy an active sailing program, including informal outings and regattas, supported by launch service to contracted moorings.

Tennis is another signature offering, with 10 Har-Tru courts and a fully equipped Tennis Pro Shop, supporting a robust program for players of all ages.

Dining is central to Club life, with several venues offering scenic shoreline views and a lively calendar of wine tastings, dinner dances, themed events, and member celebrations. The Club also hosts wedding receptions, cocktail parties, and other private events in the ballroom, on the porches, and on the lawn.

Families enjoy an extensive range of summer programs and camps focused on sailing, swimming, and tennis, helping create lasting traditions across generations.

The Club operates daily from mid-June through Labor Day, with weekend operations extending from Memorial Day through late September. For this leadership role, responsibilities begin in April, continue through the full summer season, and transition to weekend operations through late September or early October.

About the Position
The Assistant Manager is a key member of the Madison Beach Club leadership team and plays a central role in delivering exceptional seasonal member experience. This position has direct responsibility for the Food and Beverage Department overall with an emphasis on Beverage operations.  This is the Club’s highest operational priority during the summer season.

Working closely with the General Manager, Executive Chef, Dining Room Manager, and Events Manager, the Assistant Manager helps lead a high-performing seasonal team and ensures consistent service, operational excellence, and strong member engagement throughout the season.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and oversee the front-of-house beverage operation, ensuring exceptional service and smooth daily operations
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise the beverage team, building pride, accountability, and teamwork
  • Deliver an outstanding member beverage experience, including beverage quality, variety, presentation, and speed of service
  • Manage beverage purchasing, receiving, inventory, and security of all beverage products
  • Develop and implement wine and beverage menus, pricing, portion controls, and presentation standards
  • Monitor and manage labor scheduling and labor budgets to meet operational and financial goals
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and management team to ensure consistent and high-quality dining experience
  • Supervise the setup and breakdown of portable bars, remote POS systems, and event equipment
  • Support and oversee club events, private functions, and seasonal programming
  • Conduct staff meetings focused on training, event preparation, and product knowledge
  • Maintain regular presence throughout the Club by touring and inspecting facilities and service areas daily
  • Communicate professionally with members, guests, and staff, upholding Club bylaws, policies, and service standards
  • Prepare reports, meeting agendas, and operational documentation as needed
  • Participate in daily leadership meetings with the General Manager, Executive Chef, Dining Room Manager, and Events Manager
  • Ensure organized end-of-season beverage operations, including completion of inventory, storage organization, and proper closing of the Main Bar and Service Bar

What You’ll Bring

  • Five or more years of food and beverage management experience, preferably in a seasonal private club, hospitality, or restaurant environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example and build a team-focused culture
  • Excellent member service orientation and follow-through
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing staff scheduling, labor hours, and labor budgets
  • Solid financial and inventory management experience, particularly within beverage operations
  • Ability to make confident decisions in a fast-paced seasonal environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and POS systems
  • Familiarity with timekeeping and employee scheduling systems
  • Ability to build relationships with members and seasonal staff, contributing to a positive club culture
  • A collaborative leadership style that supports a high-functioning management team
