About the Club
The Mill Reef Club located in Antigua, West Indies, is a private club offering its members and their guests an exclusive vacation paradise. Set on 1,500 waterfront acres with white sand beaches, the Club features sophisticated island accommodations in one of their recently renovated 41 rooms as well as five-star dining, a breathtaking 9-hole golf course, 6 tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a spa, infinity pool, and a fully equipped Mill Reef Yacht Club complete with sailing, waterskiing, paddle boarding and more. There are 57 private member homes on the property.
The Mill Reef Club was conceived over 75 years ago as a community of blue waters, white beaches, and sweeping vistas. It remains a rare, shining tribute to a gentler, less commercial vision of paradise. There are no crowds, no battles for beach chairs, and no scheduled tee times. The Club’s all-inclusive plan includes accommodations, all meals from our outstanding chefs, and most activities, so members can simply relax and enjoy. Members and their guests enjoy the 40,000 sq foot Clubhouse, four restaurants offering unique dining options, seven cocktail lounges with delectable medleys, and two boutiques for afternoon shopping. In addition, members can enjoy the recent addition of a 40-seat pavilion-style upscale restaurant based on a nearby Club-owned private island.
The Mill Reef Club is open November-April. Gross revenue annually is $8.6 million with Food & Beverage accounting for $2.5 million, 11% of F&B revenue is from private events. There are 167 employees at the height of the season.
About the Position
The Managing Director reports to the Board President and ultimately the Board of Governors and manages all operations of the Club consistent with the direction and policies established by the Board of Governors as well as by the By-laws and Rules and Regulations of the Club. He/she works in conjunction with the Managing Director of Real Estate/Property Management and with the Financial Controller in the preparation of the Club’s annual operational and capital budgets.
The Managing Director leads a team of eight including the Food & Beverage Director, Reservations Manager, Executive Chef, Sports & Activities Manager, Tennis Professional, Executive Assistant, and Director of Human Resources, Health, and Wellness. Additionally, the Managing Director monitors the quality of the Club’s products and services to ensure maximum member and guest satisfaction while maintaining high engagement and visibility with members throughout their stay. The Managing Director also coordinates the Club’s annual events and manages the Reciprocal Club Relationships. He/she leads the reservations and yield management initiatives to drive occupancy. The next leader will also become integrally involved in local government agencies and the Antiguan community overall.

About the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned luxury private club or resort leader, experienced in leading similar scale, scope, and caliber operations in the Caribbean. It will be imperative that the next leader possess an appreciation for island life and local culture. The Managing Director will be a vibrant individual with a demonstrated humanistic style of executive leadership, coaching and fostering a positive employee environment of teamwork while holding the team accountable to established 5-star standards. Critical skills and attributes of this individual also include excellent financial and business acumen relative to club or hospitality operations, food and beverage excellence from both front-of-house and back-of-house perspectives, capital project planning and project oversight, and effective communications to reach all levels of the organization. An eye for detail in the overall management of a multi-faceted operation including overnight rooms/villas and a strong set of luxury-level professional credentials in the broad hospitality areas will contribute to the success of the Managing Director. Experience managing up to a Board and with a committee system is highly preferable.
The successful candidate will possess a four-year college degree, ideally with a specialization in Business and/or Hospitality Management. An advanced degree would be highly attractive. Certification such as the Certified Hotel Administrator and Certified Club Manager will be found beneficial.
