About the Club
Located among one of the highest points in the Denver Metro area, a quick drive to Downtown Denver or the Amazing Rocky Mountains, Pinehurst Country Club opened its doors in Southwest Denver in 1958. Since then, the Club has provided decades of private club membership with unequaled amenities. Pinehurst has built a rich heritage with multi-generational members and a family-welcoming environment. Life at Pinehurst Country Club is about friendships, families, personalized service, and relaxation creating a “resort” like atmosphere. The breathtaking beauty of the club is framed by the Rocky Mountains on the west and the Denver skyline to the northeast.
The 200-acre property features an 18-hole golf course designed by Press Maxwell, as well as a 9-hole golf course designed by Marion Pfluger, creating a unique 27 hole member golf experience. The Maxwell 18 at Pinehurst, one of Mr. Maxwell’s finest works, provides a memorable outing for golfers of all skill levels while providing a constant challenge to those more serious about the game. The Pfluger 9 is challenging, yet playable for golfers of all skill levels. The 7 acres of practice facilities include an expansive driving range and beautifully manicured chipping and putting green areas. Year-round members can use the ultra–HD Golf Simulator to keep their game sharp during the off-season.
With twelve outdoor tennis courts, including two clay courts, along with four indoor courts at the Tennis Pavilion, Pinehurst Country Club provides the most active year-round tennis program in the state of Colorado. The Club has USTA teams, league play, clinics, classes, and programs for every member of any age. The club also features four new pickleball courts providing a state-of-the-art racket facility. Within the confines of the indoor tennis facility, you will find a state-of-the-art fitness center with a full range of training and cardio equipment. The swimming pool provides aesthetic beauty to the Clubhouse, with its unique large grass areas, beautiful trees, fantastic views, and unique high diving board. An active junior swim program allows members to watch the swim and dive team practice and compete while enjoying the spacious patio in the summer. The Clubhouse also features many distinct and unique dining areas for adults and families.
Pinehurst Country Club embodies the culture and spirit of Denver. The Club is unpretentious, and appropriately casual where you will be greeted by your first name. Members enjoy an active year-round lifestyle that takes full advantage of the mile-high setting with an exclusive resort feel. Gross revenue exceeds $12 million with annual dues at almost $6 million and Food & Beverage accounting for $3.4 million. There are 250 staff members at the height of the season.
About the Position
The GM/COO is responsible for driving all operations in pursuit of excellence at Pinehurst Country Club, consistent with the strategic direction and policies established by and with the Board of Directors. The GM/COO will direct and coordinate all management functions of the Club as well as assist the Board in the development of a long-term strategic plan and align the Club’s operating goals and objectives. He/she will Establish and implement the annual business plan and corresponding operating and capital budgets as well as assist the Board in a review of Governance.
The GM/COO will oversee senior management and control of Club operations to attain the agreed-upon levels of excellence in membership experiences consistent with desired financial objectives. In addition, he/she will coordinate and direct all management functions of the Club and work in concert with Committee Chairs to assist them in the development of policies, programs, and events. The GM/COO will consult with the President, the Board, and/or be advised by Committee Chairs, as appropriate, on matters of significance and monitor the quality and standards of the Club’s programs and services to ensure the highest level of member and guest satisfaction. The chosen candidate will also ensure an atmosphere and culture of friendliness, exceptional service, collegiality, hospitality, and goodwill among all employees.
About the Ideal Candidate
The selected candidate will have a minimum of five years of progressively increasing responsibility in private club management positions leading to a GM/COO position at a Club of similar scale, amenities, and culture. In addition, he/she should have a professional career “track record” of achievement and relative employment stability with strong financial and business operations experience. The next GM/COO have experience overseeing capital improvement projects and excellent knowledge of F&B, with a track record of success in shaping, promoting, and implementing excellent dining programs.
He/she will have a record of success in the selection, development, training, and motivation of an accomplished, service-oriented private club workforce. The chosen candidate will have experience as an active and effective leader who can enhance a club’s standing with current and future members. He/she should also have experience successfully evaluating, upgrading, and implementing club technology. The next GM/COO will be a dynamic transparent leader, coach, and motivator with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
A college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or equivalent is preferred as well as professional certifications (CCM, CCE) or similar professional development achievements.
