About the Club

Palos Verdes Golf Club (“PVGC”) is a spectacular golf club located in Palos Verdes Estates, California overlooking Santa Monica Bay with views of the Queen’s necklace north to Malibu and city views into Los Angeles. The Club has 600 full memberships and an additional 150 members of various categories.  PVGC features traditional full-service clubhouse and 18 holes of golf designed by George C. Thomas, Jr. built in 1924. The Clubhouse (22,000 sq. ft.) amenities are of a traditional full-service golf club with an excellent dining program.

PVGC dining is open Tuesday through Sunday year-round providing daily ala carte dining, breakfast through dinner.  The Clubhouse features one of Los Angeles’ most highly regarded event venues with views. These recently renovated event rooms (2019) and lawn offer a large ballroom (seating 300), a bridal tower, and several other banquet rooms. PVGC’s food and beverage revenues exceed $3.1 million with banquets accounting for $2 million, including 24 weddings a year. Major holidays exceed 600 meals served. The clubhouse overlooks the beautiful and historic golf course and hosts many events that serve as the centerpiece to the social fabric of the Palos Verdes community and membership.

The Club has a planned renovation in 2020 for all a la carte dining areas of the Club. The Food & Beverage Director will assist with the planning, design concept, and transition.

About the Position

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Food and Beverage is an integral part of PVGC’s executive management team and directly oversees: Special Events Department, Service Manager, Banquet Manager, Executive Chef, and Golf Course Café. The Food & Beverage department includes 50 staff and 6 managers. Key responsibilities will include generation of event business, producing a high quality dining experience, development of a strong team, managing budgets, interacting with committees, and maintaining a high level of connectivity and visibility with operations.

About the Ideal Candidate

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, although candidates with demonstrated equivalent training and education will be considered. Candidates should also have a minimum of five years of industry and managerial level experience in operations of similar scale and culture clubs or top hotels, restaurants and resorts, with a track record of success in achieving objectives, meeting standards and management of personnel.  Certification of Master Sommeliers or equivalent is highly desired.
