About the Club
Founded in 1898, Scarsdale Golf Club is a private, family-friendly, sports-oriented club located 40 minutes from Grand Central Terminal in New York City and within walking distance from the Hartsdale Metro North train station. The Club was formed to provide recreational enjoyment to the families of the area and to help attract more people to the growing Scarsdale community. Members enjoy a challenging A.W. Tillinghast-designed golf course, six tennis courts, four platform tennis courts, a six-lane bowling alley, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a large swimming facility, an award-winning summer camp, and a variety of junior programs and clinics. The Clubhouse, 18th Hole Terrace, Pool Deck, and Bar all offer spectacular views, superb dining, entertainment, and special event venues. Scarsdale Golf Club offers its membership engaging activities and extraordinary year-round facilities and has been affectionately coined, “The Little Hamlet in the Village.”

What makes Scarsdale Golf Club special is the Club’s uniquely diverse membership and welcoming environment that invites friends and families to connect and create long lasting relationships. Members and their guests enjoy the Club’s five dining outlets that offer distinctive and gracious settings. There is something for everybody–barbeques on the outdoor terraces, casual dining for the entire family, formal menus with handcrafted cocktails, poolside salads or a café latte at the Midway Café. The Club also offers exquisite special events from intimate parties of 20 to spectacular galas for 250.

The Club is open year-round for dining from mid-April to the end of the year. The upper level of the Clubhouse underwent a $2.5 million renovation in 2004. In 2016, the Golf Course Maintenance Facility was renovated for $4.2 million, and the North Complex was renovated in 2012 at $7.2M. Current projects include a golf course replacement irrigation system in 2023 and a two-court tennis bubble in 2023 at a combined 5.1M. Gross revenue is $11.5 million with Food & Beverage accounting for approximately $3 million, and 35% F&B Revenues are from Private Events. There are 140 staff members at the height of the season and a total of 538 memberships today.

About the Position
The Director of Sales & Catering plans, controls, and directs social functions and assists Banquet Manager with Member Events which total ~$1 million. S/he will promote the Club’s dining facilities for private banquets, business, and social meetings, and other member-related activities. The Director will develop contracts for and oversee all administrative aspects of events and work in conjunction with the Banquet Manager, Beverage Manager, and Executive Chef to assure that the guest’s expectations are exceeded.  In addition, the Director will have frequent contact with members, guests, and clients to ensure member/guest satisfaction and exceed expectations.  S/he will work closely with other F&B Managers to ensure service and product also exceed those expectations.

About the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a Hospitality Management Degree or equivalent and 5-7 years of Club or Hotel, Sales, and Catering experience at a high-end hotel, resort, or Club. The next Director of Sales & Catering will have excellent financial management and revenue-building skills. He/she will have the ability to fully manage a ~$1 million catering and sales operation and manage a team of professionals.  S/he must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. He/she must also have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The next Director of Sales & Catering will must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence, and procedure manuals. He/she will have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, customers, and the general public.
