Scarsdale Golf Club | Hartsdale, New York
Head Golf Professional
About the Club
Founded in 1898, Scarsdale Golf Club is a private, family-friendly, sports-oriented club located 40 minutes from Grand Central Terminal in New York City and walking distance from the Hartsdale Metro North train station. The Club was formed to provide recreational enjoyment for the families of the area and to help attract more people to the growing Scarsdale community and it continues to do so today.
The AW Tillinghast designed 18-hole golf course has been considered one of the top golf courses in the Westchester County area. The par 71 golf course measures 6,350 yards and hosts 15,000 rounds annually. The Club currently has 530 members, of which 325 have golfing privileges. A state-of-the-art irrigation system and a top-notch course maintenance department ensure pristine greens, well-manicured fairways, and lush and challenging rough. Golf amenities include the golf pro shop and an indoor practice facility, a state-of-the-art driving range, two practice greens and a short-game practice area.
Other Club amenities include six tennis courts, four platform tennis courts, six-lane bowling alley, state-of-the-art fitness center, large swimming facility, an award-winning summer camp, and a variety of junior programs and clinics. The Clubhouse, 18th Hole Terrace, Pool Deck, and Bar all offer spectacular views, superb dining, entertainment, and special event venues. Scarsdale Golf Club offers its membership engaging activities and extraordinary year-round facilities and has been affectionately coined, “The Little Hamlet in the Village.”
In 2016, the Golf Course Maintenance Facility was renovated at a cost of $4.2 million, and the North Complex was renovated in 2012 at $7.2M. Current projects include a golf course replacement irrigation system in 2023 and a two-court tennis bubble in 2023 at a combined $5.1M. Also completing a main level Clubhouse refresh.
In its early days, Scarsdale hosted exhibitions by some of the greatest names of golf lore: Harry Vardon, Ted Ray, Walter Hagen, and Bobby Jones. More recently, Scarsdale has been a qualifying site for the US Open and Senior US Open and annually hosts numerous Metropolitan Golf Association events. One of the cornerstones of Scarsdale’s golf calendar is the Wilson Cup, named in honor of Charles “General Electric” Wilson, a long-time Member who was famous for his role in rebuilding America after WWII. The Wilson Cup has become one of the Metropolitan area’s top amateur team competitions. Golf Members at the Club enjoy an array of Club sponsored tournaments, including Men’s, Women’s, and Junior’s Club championships, two-man team events and more – all organized by the Club’s excellent staff of golf professionals.
The Club is open year-round for dining from April 1st to the end of the year. The golf course is open year-round with regulation greens from April through November.
