About the Club
Founded in 1898, Scarsdale Golf Club is a private, family-friendly, sports-oriented club located 40 minutes from Grand Central Terminal in New York City and walking distance from the Hartsdale Metro North train station. The Club was formed to provide recreational enjoyment to the families of the area and to help attract more people to the growing Scarsdale community. Members enjoy a challenging A.W. Tillinghast-designed golf course, six tennis courts, four platform tennis courts, six-lane bowling alley, state-of-the-art fitness center, large swimming facility, an award-winning summer camp, and a variety of junior programs and clinics. The Clubhouse, 18th Hole Terrace, Pool Deck, and Bar all offer spectacular views, superb dining, entertainment, and special event venues. Scarsdale Golf Club offers its membership engaging activities and extraordinary year-round facilities and has been affectionately coined, “The Little Hamlet in the Village.”

The Club is open year-round for dining from mid-April to the end of the year. Gross revenue is $9.3  million with Food & Beverage accounting for $1.6 million. There are 135 staff members at the height of season and a total of 500 memberships today.

About the Position
The next Chief Financial Officer of Scarsdale Golf Club works as an integral member of the management team and supervises the accounting and financial operations of the Club. He/she directly assists the Finance Committee and General Manager on all strategic matters relating to budget development and management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and internal controls and directly supervises four employees in the accounting department. The Chief Financial Officer reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for controlling and coordinating accounting, auditing, budgeting, taxes, people management, and related activities and records. He/she develops, establishes and administers procedures and systems pertaining to financial matters as well as prepares financial statements, forecasts, and analyses for administrative and managerial functions. The Chief Financial Officer analyzes and interprets statistical and accounting information and evaluates operating results for costs, revenues, budgets, policies of operation, trends and increased profit possibilities.

About the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have ten years of professional accounting experience with a minimum of half of those years serving in a Chief Financial Officer capacity. He/she will have hospitality and/or Non-Profit experience and a logical professional career progression with increased responsibility and relative employment stability. The selected candidate will have experience working with IT and Human Resources administration, implementation, and other related matters as well as a proven track record of excellent leadership, management, and verbal and written communication skills.

The next CFO of Scarsdale Golf Club will have excellent/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as prior use of financial and accounting software applications, including POS application and be well versed in New York State and Federal Income Tax regulations. Additionally, he/she will have a high degree of integrity, work ethic, and dedication and strong analytic skills as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment. It is important that the selected candidate be well-organized with a strong ability to plan strategically and can set priorities and delegate effectively. He/she must have a positive attitude and outstanding member/guest service orientation and be comfortable and adept in conversing with membership. The selected candidate must be willing and able to work a varied schedule that may include early starts, nights, weekends, and holidays and be willing and able to help coach department heads on budgeting, forecasting, and course correcting as needed to nurture a team environment of financial stewardship. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with CHAE or CPA certification is required. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
