About the Club
Acquired in 2013 by Lone Mountain Land Company, Spanish Peaks Mountain Club, a private ski access and golf community set on more than 5,750 acres of pristine Montana wilderness in Big Sky, Montana offers residents exceptional amenities with a casual elegance among a selection of distinctive mountain homes with amazing views. Members enjoy ski on, ski off access to the Big Sky Resort as well as championship Tom Weiskopf signature golf that offers 40-mile views that include the Spanish Peaks and Gallatin Range and the Absaroka and Beartooth peaks of Yellowstone National Park. The private clubhouse is surrounded by gorgeous terrain that allows for plenty of multi-season activities including snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and shooting.

The Club’s mission is to further continue the tradition of awesome mountain living while providing a matching style of casual yet elegant hospitality with extraordinary service.  The 36,000 square foot clubhouse is open seven months of the year in winter and summer and offers fine dining opportunities, family oriented special events as well as comradery among the members.  It is the social center and gathering place for the member families and their guests. The dining experience is a blend of relaxed refinement and culinary excellence that is expressed through seasonal menus that integrate local ingredients.

Other amenities include two hard court tennis courts, two Pickle Ball courts along with a private pool with several hot tubs.  The social calendar for families and members is very active throughout the summer months from mid-June through late September. This includes children’s camps, movie nights, Kids Night Out and yoga among all the other tennis and golf programming. The winter activities start in mid-December and last through mid-April and include many holiday parties and events, live music, snowshoeing and other special experiences for the members.

The new $400 million Montage Big Sky will open next year and will represent the latest in real estate opportunities as well as new amenities for the members to enjoy. The 520,000 square foot lodge located adjacent to the Weiskopf course will feature 39 branded Montage Residences run by the luxury hotelier with 150 transient hotel guestrooms and suites. Members of Spanish Peaks Mountain Club will enjoy the amenities at the hotel including the fitness center, luxury spa and spa services, bowling alley and multiple restaurants.

The Club is open from mid-June through late September and reopens again in mid-December though mid-April.  Dining is offered at the Clubhouse seven days a week from 7am – 10pm for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

About the Position
The General Manager is responsible to the Lone Mountain Land Company (Lone Mountain) which is owned by Cross Harbor Capital Partners, and Montage International. Lone Mountain owns Spanish Peaks Mountain Club, Yellowstone Club and Moonlight Basin. The position reports directly to the Senior Vice President – Golf, Club Management and Recreation at Montage International.  All Spanish Peaks staff members are employed by Montage International and enjoy the full range of benefits and privileges that this luxury international hospitality company offers. The General Manager will perform all duties necessary in the proper management and control of the property and business affairs of the Spanish Peaks Mountain Club. The General Manager is responsible for managing all operations of Spanish Peaks Mountain Club consistent with the direction and policies established by Lone Mountain, the asset owner in partnership with Montage International.  This includes working in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, which is subject to review and acceptance by Lone Mountain, and management and control of operations to attain targeted results.

The next leader will spearhead the mission, along with the Advisory Committee, to shape policy and programming while advising these constituencies on industry best practices, trends, and private club business norms. The General Manager has full management accountability.  While directly reporting to the Senior Vice President of Golf, Club Management and Recreation at Montage International, the General Manager will also have direction from Lone Mountain.  The Advisory Board will interface with management through the General Manager.

The General Manager will create all standards and monitor the quality of the Club’s staff, products and services to ensure maximum member and guest satisfaction and will ensure an atmosphere of gracious hospitality, friendliness, and goodwill.  These standards are heavily influenced by the 5 Star standards of Montage International.

About the Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced private club General Manager with a career track record managing highly regarded private clubs with a wide range of both winter and summer amenity offerings. From this experience, the next leader will have proven the ability to create an outstanding service culture and have an excellent knowledge of and passion for food, wine, and service with successful performance record in shaping excellent dining offerings that reflect traditional needs that will connect with a well-traveled and sophisticated membership. The General Manager will be visible and approachable both to the membership and staff alike and will genuinely enjoy building relations. The leadership style will include a nurturing approach with a humanistic management style while consistently holding staff accountable at the highest level. In addition, candidates will partner with the Big Sky community in representing the Club to be the employer of choice as well as to integrate into the community overall. The next leader will also have experience in a similar seasonal mountain environment and have enjoyed the outdoor pursuits it offers.
