About the Club
Established in 1890, Stamford Yacht Club is a family oriented private club located on five acres, 40 miles northeast of New York City in the beautiful Shippan Point neighborhood. The Club is dedicated to the social and recreational interests of its members and is a proud member of the National Sailing Hall of Fame.

Stamford Yacht Club is a long-standing and contributing member of the community. The Club and its 500+ members are honored to participate in many local, regional, and national organizations. Several significant regattas are hosted at the Club during the season, including the Vineyard Race and Valeur-Jensen Stamford Denmark Race. Members are both performance sailors and occasional racers who enjoy socializing on and off the water. The Club’s junior sailors compete all over the world. Members and their guests enjoy amenities that include six Har-Tru tennis courts, three platform tennis courts, two adult swimming pools, a children’s pool, and waterfront dining. The Club has 145 moorings, five guest rooms, and a very active Junior’s program and adult social calendar.

The Club is open year-round with the exception of February when dining service is suspended. Gross revenue annually is $6.1 million with Food and Beverage accounting for $2.2 million. There are currently 535 total memberships.

About the Position
The Assistant General Manager reports to the General Manager and is responsible for the complete oversight and administration of all front of house matters and service provided across campus. The AGM is responsible for the general day-to-day operations of staff functions relating to dining and banquet services, reception, housekeeping, maintenance, and security in accordance with the policies established by the General Manager, Board of Directors, and by-laws of the Club. This includes assisting the General Manager with the preparation of the related budgets in his/her respective areas of responsibility and, after Board approval, the management and control of operations to attain the desired results. His/her goal is to help members and their guests enjoy the facilities and programs of the Club with an especially discerning eye for detail in the service, food and beverage, facilities, and housekeeping areas of the Club.

The AGM will provide quality leadership, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Club, ensuring members are provided with exceptional service across the campus. He/she must be visible and present to provide direction and support for daily Club activities, member events, and meal periods. The AGM will provide direct supervision, management, and leadership for all front of house employees and serve as a managerial and administrative link between all departments to ensure that the team’s efforts are coordinated and effective. He/she is also responsible for direct oversight of all Food and Beverage operations throughout the Club, including a la carte and event operations.

About the Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will have a minimum of six years of related hospitality industry experience with at least four of those years in a leadership role. Private club experience is preferred and waterfront and/or yacht club experience is highly beneficial. He/she will have a professional career record of achievement and relative employment stability as well as excellent managerial, leadership and interpersonal skills. It is imperative that the AGM have excellent customer service and communication skills and an engaging, friendly, and energetic personal style and level of congeniality that allows him/her to be well received and accessible to a range of members and diverse workforce.

The next AGM of Stamford Yacht Club will be knowledgeable and passionate about hospitality, food and wine, service, and the member/guest experience with experience in booking, planning, and executing events, especially weddings. He/she should also have solid understanding of the managerial requirements  of clubhouse oversight and possess a sharp eye for detail. It is also important that he/she have strong organizational skills with the ability to consistently follow through, be a problem solver and have the ability to think creatively for the best solutions.

A college graduate is preferred, however possessing professional club industry certifications along with relevant work experience is also beneficial.
