Situated in the scenic residential neighborhood of New Canaan, Fairfield County, Connecticut, the Country Club of New Canaan is an esteemed family-oriented, member-owned club that boasts a rich heritage dating back to 1893. With an impressive range of amenities including an 18-hole Willie Park, Jr. designed golf course, tennis courts, paddle facilities, squash courts, and a pristine swimming pool, the club offers a vibrant social calendar, junior sports programming, and children’s summer camp.

Gross revenue exceeds $14 million with Food & Beverage accounting for $3.5 million (33% generated from private event sales). The club operates two kitchens and serves menus that span from classic favorites to cutting-edge culinary trends. The Clubhouse is open Tuesday – Sunday.

About the Position
The Country Club of New Canaan is seeking an accomplished Executive Chef to lead the culinary team in creating extraordinary dining experiences. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Executive Chef will play a pivotal role in shaping the culinary landscape of the club, overseeing all culinary production for the various dining outlets and special events. Collaborating closely with the General Manager/COO, the Executive Chef will contribute to annual budget formulation and effectively manage financial performance within the department. This key role involves recruiting, mentoring, and developing culinary staff, as well as spearheading menu development, recipe creation, and ingredient sourcing. Upholding the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and food quality, the Executive Chef will ensure exceptional consistency and variety to cater to the desires of the esteemed membership.

The ideal candidate for the Executive Chef position at the Country Club of New Canaan is an outstanding culinary professional with a proven track record in high-volume private club environments. This accomplished individual will possess strong leadership skills and a distinguished career trajectory, demonstrating a deep understanding of culinary and industry trends. The Executive Chef should excel in both banquet and a la carte production, showcasing the ability to meticulously plan and execute large-scale events. Exceptional team-building skills and the ability to foster positive relationships are crucial in this role, serving as a bridge between the front-of-house and culinary staff.

Outside of the kitchen, the candidate will have strong communication skills, sensitivity to people, and a proactive approach to strategizing and coordinating dining-related events. The Executive Chef should also exhibit proficiency in financial management and a commitment to maintaining proper sanitation practices, along with relevant certifications such as “Serve Safe,” is essential to uphold the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness and food safety.
