Clubhouse Manager

About the Club
The Blind Brook Club is a private, elite member-owned golf club located 20 miles outside of New York City in the affluent Westchester County of New York. Founded in 1915 by William Hamlin Childs, the Club stems from another famous golf club of exactly the same type, the exclusive Old Elm Club in Chicago. Today, the Club maintains its rich history of honoring family and entertaining guests for its nearly 300 members, many of whom are CEOs and executives of Fortune 500 Companies. Club features include challenging golf, fine cuisine, and impeccable service in a private club setting for personal and professional use.

The par 71 championship Seth Raynor designed 18-hole golf course hosts approximately 5,000 rounds annually. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse features dining outlets for a la carte service and events and includes: Founders Dining Room (up to 50 guests), the more informal Grill Room (up to 50 guests), South Terrace (up to 50 guests), and the McGillicuddy Room & Bar. There are eight overnight guest rooms available from April – December. The Club’s operating months are from mid-April through the last weekend in October. However, the Club does hold Thanksgiving events and several holiday functions and will accommodate private parties in November and December for lunch and dinner. Breakfast service is available on request and starting May 1, lunch is served Tuesday through Sunday. A la carte dinner service is offered Fridays and Saturdays starting after Mother’s Day. The golf course remains open after October as long as weather permits and generally closes sometime in November. The Clubhouse office is open year round. Annual gross revenue is $6.5 million and during the height of season there are 48 total employees. The Club is currently undergoing renovations to revitalize and update the clubhouse, outdoor terrace, locker rooms, and golf course.

About the Position
The Clubhouse Manager reports directly to the General Manager and leads a devoted team that includes the Dining Room Manager, Dining Room Captain, and all FOH Food and Beverage and clubhouse staff. The Clubhouse Manager oversees all daily operations of the clubhouse and staff functions related to a la carte, member event, and private party dining services, as well as overnight guest rooms and locker rooms. Particular attention will be paid to the FOH dining operations regarding staff training and member services. The Clubhouse Manager is a visible and engaging member of the senior management team and with a hands-on leadership style that ensures an excellent member experience. The Clubhouse Manager manages the budget in his/her areas of responsibility to attain desired financial results as well as recruits, hires, and trains seasonal staff members for clubhouse positions. This position works cooperatively with the Executive Chef to deliver an exceptional dining and event experience and ensures seamless communication and coordination between the FOH and BOH teams. The Clubhouse Manager oversees and develops the beverage program and wine list, providing wine and cocktail training to staff, handling beverage purchasing, maintaining members’ wine bins, regularly rotating the specialty drink menus, and ensuring the beverage storerooms are neat and orderly. Administrative duties include but are not limited to inventories; assisting the General Manager with private party panning, coordination, execution, and billing; overseeing proper payroll procedures are followed by staff; updating the POS; and contributing to member communications and website updating as needed.

About the Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, team-oriented, humanistic leader who is skilled in working with a team of dedicated staff members who are passionate about the Club and in delivering a high touch member experience in an intimate setting. The Clubhouse Manager will be experienced in overseeing clubhouse and Food and Beverage operations in either well regarded private clubs or in a luxury hotel setting (or a combination of both) and have the peripheral vision to understand where to chip in and leverage the cross utilization of team members to effect efficient and seamless service. Advanced knowledge of wine and beverage programming is preferred. The successful candidate will be comfortable and effective in communicating with a sophisticated membership and across all levels of the organization. This position requires visibility within the clubhouse and a can-do attitude to deliver on the member experience in a personalized and hands on fashion. Must be self-driven, organized, have the ability to independently follow up and follow through, and possess a sharp eye for detail. College degree is preferred, ideally with a specialization in Hospitality or related concentration.
