About the Club
Established in 1896, Wee Burn Country Club is generally considered one of the premier country clubs in the tri-state area. The Club is also among the oldest private country clubs in Connecticut and a founding member of the Connecticut State Golf Association. Wee Burn’s five-star facilities include a magnificent Mediterranean-styled clubhouse, a championship golf course designed by noted architect Devereux Emmet and recently renovated by Fazio Golf, golf practice facilities including a premier driving range, a three-hole short game facility and indoor golf simulator, a private Beach Club on Long Island Sound with a shoreline swimming pool and junior activities pavilion, thirteen Har-Tru tennis courts, eight platform tennis courts with a state-of-the-art warming facility, four ten-pin bowling lanes, a state-of-the-art Gun Club with trap, skeet and 5-stand shooting and extensive indoor and outdoor dining and banquet facilities at both the main and beach clubs.

Wee Burn has hosted three USGA Women’s Amateur Championships and virtually every major Connecticut State and Metropolitan PGA tournament. The Club is universally praised as the best maintained and conditioned golf course in Connecticut and among the best in the northeast.

About the Position
As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Wee Burn Country Club, you will play an integral role in the management team. You will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial operations of the Club and providing crucial assistance to the Finance Committee and General Manager in strategic matters. Your expertise will be vital in budget development and management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting, and enhancing internal controls. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will have control and coordination over accounting, auditing, budgeting, taxes, people management, and related activities and records. Your role will also involve establishing and administering procedures and systems pertaining to financial matters, including financial statements, forecasts, and analysis for administrative and managerial functions. The CFO will be involved in analyzing and interpreting statistical and accounting information to evaluate operating results, costs, revenues, budgets, policies of operation, trends, and increased profit possibilities. Additionally, the role will supervise the IT and HR functions through both third-party and on-site support.

About the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the CFO position should have a minimum of seven years of professional accounting experience, with at least half of that time serving in a CFO capacity, ideally within the hospitality and/or non-profit sectors. A logical professional career progression with increasing responsibilities and relative employment stability is highly valued. Experience in managing IT and Human Resources administration is essential.

Leadership and management capabilities are a must, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting software and POS applications is expected. A thorough knowledge of Connecticut State and Federal Income Tax regulations is crucial.

Integrity, work ethic, dedication, strong analytic skills, and sound judgment are highly sought-after qualities. The ideal candidate should be well-organized and possess strategic planning abilities. A positive attitude and a commitment to outstanding member and guest service are essential.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance is required, and holding a CHAE or CPA certification, along with an MBA, is strongly preferred.
