Mark Sell, CPA – Executive Vice President
Mark is an Executive Vice President at Club Thinking Partners, specializing in recruiting high-caliber accounting professionals and CFOs as well as other executives for our partner clubs around the world. As a CPA for over three decades, Mark has firsthand experience and knowledge along with a powerful network to find financial leaders who can drive organizational success for Clubs and Resorts. Mark has successfully completed more than 1,300 accounting/financial searches which makes him a truly unique and invaluable asset in the Boardroom when clubs are making crucial financial leadership hiring decisions.
Mark launched his professional career at KPMG, one of the world’s leading professional services firms, earning his CPA in 1989 while serving in both the audit and tax departments. He found his way into the executive recruiting world over 25 years ago when he founded Sell & Associates, a firm specializing in accounting and finance where he led executive searches for publicly traded Fortune 500 companies. In 2017, Mark evolved his practice to Retained Search Group, focusing on CFO and Hospitality search.
Over the past 30 years, Mark has been a member of the Athletic Club of Columbus (ACC), a Five Star Platinum Club in the heart of Columbus, serving in multiple leadership positions including Club President. As the former Board President of the ACC and leading searches for various private clubs, Mark brings a great passion for both the club and resort industry and identifying and securing great leadership and talent.
Mark’s addition makes CTP the only firm serving the private club and resort industry with a dedicated CPA on staff. For that reason, Mark will lead CTP’s CFO and Controllers searches, effectively recruiting and assessing financial leaders with direct and personal expertise. Utilizing CTP’s extensive processes and resources, Mark offers unparalleled financial experience and knowledge. In addition, Mark is available for financial leadership development consulting, educational programs, and editorial development.
Mark and his wife, Linda, reside in Columbus, Ohio. Along with their three adult children, they love to play golf and travel to beaches and slopes alike. Mark was a multi-sport athlete at Otterbein University where he earned his degree in accounting.
